Credo
A credo is a teaching philosophy it is the framework for an individual's main points of why they want to become a teacher and what they want to accomplish as an educator in British Columbia.
My interest in the teaching profession has stemmed from a positive experience I had as a student in a grade one class where I was struggling to read and far behind my peers. My teacher took it upon himself to volunteer his own time to stay after and give me resources out of his own pocket to succeed. This can stayed with me throughout the rest of my schooling and into adulthood. This inspired to give back and affirmed that you can have a very positive impact on student’s lives as a teacher. My main teaching philosophy is made up of a couple points. (1) Being adaptable in the classroom, (2) Going above and beyond the calls of the profession, (3) Being a facilitator of learning in the classroom and (4) Getting children active in the classroom. To expand the first point relates to lifelong learning and adapting your teaching to improve yourself as an educator. The second point is going above and beyond what is required. Not only for your personal development but to enrich the lives of the students you teach. The third point relates to using your role as an educator to help facilitates students’ interest in education and furthering themselves to become more proficient. The last point relates to making sure in an ever-growing technological world that students get active during the day and learn healthy lifestyle options.
